In this week's gospel Jesus teaches his disciples first what words to use when they pray and then how important it is to persevere in their prayer practices. He tells them how important it is that they keep praying, even when it feels like nothing is happening or changing, and that in their perseverance they will receive the Holy Spirit. Sometimes it is hard to keep going when it feels like we aren't getting anywhere. Think of someone in your family or community who is feeling discouraged. Take some time to write them a letter, give them a call, or find a time to visit with them to encourage them in whatever they may feel discouraged about. How can you bring the Holy Spirit to them this week and let them know they are not alone in their struggle? Take some time as a family later in the week to share with one another what this experience was like.
