How are you being salty today?

This week we hear Jesus refer to those gathered before him listening to his sermon on the out as the "salt of the Earth." As Bishop Susan Brown Snook pointed out on the podcast, salt is not meant to be a main ingredient in any kind of cooking or baking, but is instead meant to be used in small amount with the intention of bringing out the flavors of the other ingredients around it. In this teaching, Jesus is inviting his followers to see that they do not need to be an overpowering majority in the world, and to recognize their role as one of empowering those around them.
