Prayer-

You tell us to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, care for the sick, and visit the imprisoned. Bless all who provide comfort to those in need. Keep our own eyes open to the opportunities in which we can minister to others. For in the eyes of others, we shall see you. Amen.

-Call On Me: A Prayer Book for Young People

Questions:

I wonder it means to “catch people.”

I wonder what Peter felt about “catching people.”

I wonder what you do to “catch people.”

I wonder how St. Paul’s tries to catch people.

I wonder what something is you can do today to try to catch someone.

Bedtime: Reflections for Children at the End of the Day

During your bedtime routine, invite your children into a time of reflection about their day, maybe by saying, "Did you know that God really wants to know what happened in your day today, and that God is always listening whenever you need to tell God something?" Then continue with these questions:

1) What are some things that happened today that you want to tell God about?

2) What is one happy thing that happened today? What is one sad thing that happened today?

3) Did you see God or feel God with you when those things were happening? Where did you see or feel God when those things happened today?

4) Read to your children this week’s scripture selection, then ask the questions that follows.

Luke 5:1-11 Jesus was standing by the lake, and the people were crowding around him to hear what he had to say. He got into a boat that belonged to Simon and asked him to push out into the lake. Then he sat down in the boat and started teaching the people on the shore. When he was done talking, he said to Simon, “Let’s go out into the deeper water and see what we can catch with your nets.” Simon said, “Jesus, we fished there all night long and didn’t catch a thing. But, if you want, we’ll do that and I’ll let down the nets.” Was Simon surprised when they caught so many fish they didn’t know what to do with them! Their nets began to break they were so full of fish. Simon signaled the other boat to come help them. They filled up both boats so full to fish that they began to sink. When Simon saw that, he fell on his knees in front of Jesus and said, “You are so holy, I don’t think I should even be near you. You know, Jesus, I am really sinful. I don’t think I can take all this holiness.” But Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on I will show you how to catch people and bring them to God.” They brought their boats in to shore, and then Simon and his partners, James and John, left everything behind and following Jesus.

Did the story remind you of anything that happened in your day today?

5) What are some things that you want to tell God that you are grateful for today?
