Who is being a neighbor in your community?

Each week we'll highlight a current event or ongoing story from world and reflect on it through the lens of the gospel. First check out this article linked below.

From NPR

Reflect and Act:

In the gospel this week Jesus tells the story of the Good Samaritan, challenging those in his Jewish community to see that their neighbor was not just people like them, but people from whom they had long been estranged. In telling this story Jesus teaches those assembled that a neighbor is not just someone geographically close, but a person that shows love, care, and mercy. Being a neighbor, in Jesus' story, is not a passive reality, but an active one, in which being a neighbor is not a given, but is accomplished through action, service, and relationship.

In this week's article we hear the stories of two farms owned and operated in Iowa by queer farmers. Through supporting their communities they are building relationships and exemplifying a new way of being a farmer in their context. They are loving and serving their neighbors, not knowing how this will impact their world, but knowing that it will somehow, someway transform the people they are called to love. Who are the people exemplifying new ways of loving and serving their neighbors in your community?
