In this week's gospel we hear Jesus invite the leaders of his religious community, and the rich people in his community, to think about how they act when they are gathered with others. He also challenges them to not just invite the same people over and over again to gather together, but to invite people who are different than them into community, even if they know nothing about them or don't know if they will have anything in common. This week take some time to think about your community of friends and family. Do you invite the same people over and over again to your gatherings or over for play dates? One night this week sit down as a family and make a guest list for a party made up completely of people who you usually wouldn't invite over. Maybe they are very different than you. Maybe they don't seem to have anything in common with you. Imagine what this gathering would be like? If you want to go the extra mile, actually invite this group over for a gathering and see what happens!
