Take some time at dinner one night this week to read this fun fact and then discuss some of the questions.
Did you know...
…that there were a lot of women who were disciples of Jesus? In this week's story we hear about some of them, specifically Mary Magdalene, Mary mother of James, and Joanna. This isn't the first time in Luke's gospel that we hear about these women, though. We first hear their names in Luke chapter 8, where it says that these women, among other, supported Jesus from their resources. It also says that Joanna's husband was one of Herod's stewards.
These amazing women are not only the first ones to witness to and tell other people about the resurrection, but they supported Jesus' ministry with their own money, and showed amazing courage in following Jesus, especially Joanna, who's husband was part of Herod's court, the same Herod who condemned Jesus on Good Friday. What amazing women there are in the gospel!
Questions for Discussion:
1) What do you think it means to be courageous?
2) Who are the courageous people in your family or in the world? Why do you think they are courageous?
3) When was a time when someone was different than you expected them to be? What was that experience like?
